It was our first trip to the city and on our first night we set out for a stroll, with no particular destination in mind. We arrived by chance to Plaka, one of the areas most popular with tourists. The view to the Acropolis from “down below” is stunning, without even needing to climb up to a viewing point. For a few euros, you can have a coffee in one of the open-air cafes and enjoy the lit-up version of a place with thousands of years’ history. Greeks are so friendly that as soon as they see you with a map in your hand, they immediately offer to help.
