Oscar-winning filmmaker Roman Polanski has returned to Poland to some of the places that marked his childhood, for a documentary about his life directed by Mateusz Kudla. Among them: the Cracow ghetto, from which he fled during the Second World War. Polanski’s mother died in the Auschwitz concentration camp but he managed to survive with aid from farmers.
